Housewarming Times

Here is the outfit I chose to wear for my Housewarming party. It's a Midi again!!! I think I am a little obsessed, but nevermind. I found this lovely Champagne pleated number in River Island & I love it. Very elegant and could be worn a number of ways.

My feather necklace is a H&M find and I layered this with my turquoise necklace that I got the other week.

Hope you had a great weekend!!...Why do they go so fast?!!

Anoraks R Us

Last Weekend I went to the Lake District for a little holibob. Had a lovely time, despite the general sogginess due to the rain and thought I'd share some photos with you! We took a boat trip from Ambleside to Bowness on Windermere and it was very nautical. For the trip I wore my chinos rolled up, a striped breton tee and tan loafers...all complete with my vintage Barbour.
Loafers...Primark

There was a definite fashion trend on show in the Lakes...& that was the trusty ANORAK!! Literally everyone was sporting them. Think North Face meets Fashion Week.

I went with my boyfriend and it was my present to him for his birthday. We headed out for something to eat & funnily enough straight after this I went back to change my clothes as it seems people sport the ANORAK 24/7. So, to start off with there was me walking down the street 'dressed up' in a grey leather jacket, black vest & a floaty midi skirt...all teamed with heels.  Let's just say I didn't quite 'fit in'...

I also picked up some lovely bits for my new flat while I was there :)

Midi Mood

So, here's my other midi skirt. Quite different to my pleated one & I like the gypsy/boho feel this one has. I haven't actually worn it out the house yet (oops) but have a few ideas of what to wear with it now. I got this floral midi from Topshop when I visited Edinburgh way back in February. I have worn it with quite an old t-shirt of mine, from a very budget shop called Dunnes (I've only actually ever seen one of these shops in Leeds, but sure there must be more!) and thought it toughened the skirt up somewhat.

I've now moved into my new flat, and after a few small fiascos (not getting hot water!!) I'm starting to feel settled. But I have been such a busy bee, hence the lack of blogging. Also just got back from a weekend in the Lake District which I'm going to do a blog post about this week.

Forgotten Treasures

For the majority of this week I have been having a mahoosive clear-out of all my stuff and then packing the things that managed to get through this tough elimination phase (like the X Factor of clothes) ready for moving flats tomorrow. I'm all ready to go now (yay!) which I am very glad about as I have decided I hate moving.

Whilst going through all my things I found some lovely vintage treasures that I had completely forgotten I had (I know, how bad am I?!!- but please tell me you do these things too?!) and thought I would share them with you. Above are the two vintage silk scarves I found...which I think will look great loosely tied round my satchels and also these two beautiful handbags.

Now that I've rediscovered these beauts I can't wait to incorporate them into an outfit...

Another new treasure that I found last weekend is this gorgeous necklace. I absolutely LOVE it, especially the turquoise colour. I am obssessed with jewellery like this and was so happy when I saw it in the shop window & knew it had to be mine ;)

Stripes & Print

I'm such a fan of stripes. Blue, red, black...any colour really and I think if I had to wear just one top for the rest of my life it would be a navy breton tee- you just can't go wrong.
I took inspiration from one of my style icons for this look- Olivia Palermo. She mixes prints so well and recently I saw her rocking a Mango striped jumper and maxi floral skirt and it looked great. I got this skirt from Urban Outfitters in the sale for £10...it's silk and I absolutely love it. The jumper is from H&M...
And comes complete with elbow patches, which I love.

This weekend I have been packing (yuk) as I am moving flat next Saturday. My boyfriend and I are moving in together, so I have had to be very ruthless and have sent quite a few clothes to the charity shop. I also found some lovely bits that I completely forgot I had!

Hope you've had a nice weekend...

Sunday Shorts

VOGUE ITALIA INTRODUCES CURVES
Sunday's Short of the Week

Vogue Italia Cover, June 2011

It seems like Vogue Italia's Editor Franca Sozzani is on a bit of a mission to banish the thoughts that only stick thin girls belong on the cover of the infamous fashion magazine by promoting and celebrating curves with its latest cover. The cover features three beautiful models flaunting what they've got in lingerie and the photography is the work of Steven Meisel.

Good news, you may say but I've heard various opinions on the cover with some saying why was there a need to have the models in lingerie? some believe it's more of a token gesture and some have commented on the fact that until fashion magazines actually begin to use normal looking models within campaigns these gestures aren't really going to make much difference, which I entirely agree with.

It's time that fashion begins to celebrate the female form, in all shapes and sizes. Fashion should not mean pressure to be a certain size, but instead something to enjoy and experiment with. Fairplay to Vogue for introducing this cover but let's see if they keep it up!! It's time we see more ladies with beautiful curves in our fashion campaigns!

Little Lace Dress

Above- Black Lace Dress: H&M, Red Lace Dress: Topshop & White Lace Dress: Primark

I seem to have an obsession with lace dresses at the moment and also seem to have one in nearly every colour possible- black, red, white- what next? I thought I would share them with you and some photographs of me in them. The above photos are from nights out over the last few months (hence the strange poses- bring back the Robot!!)

Lace, for me, is such a feminine fabric. It has old school elegance and can be toughened up with a leather jacket (seen above- from Warehouse) or can give you a really ladylike look, worn with simple accessories and make-up. What I also like about these dresses is that they can cross over the seasons- pair them with black opaques and killer heels in winter and then let the legs out around this time of year.

I have to save my favourite is the red Topshop number. I have only worn it once but I loved the vibrancy of the colour and teamed with a red lip...the colour pops!
