Looks I Love...
I think these two photographs are beautiful and I love the looks. The first, shows a stunning dress from Next's Autumn/Winter range, perfect for the parties that will be coming up over Christmas. The colour will make you stand out for all the right reasons and will flatter all skin tones.
The fur look comes from ASOS and is similar to the fur that I have recently bought from H & M. The lipstick looks stunning too. That's what I call wrapping up in style.

New Purchases & Wishful Walking
Well since the purchase of the wax jacket I've had to put a slight hold on the spending as I have already bought rather a lot of clothing this month (not a bad thing for me of course, just had implications on the old bank balance!)
But yesterday I did indulge in a little accessory shopping!! I do enjoy this sort of purchase as I feel I am adding to my existing wardrobe with some little twists and details to jazz up my outfits. And, which is good for the purse I hit Topshop's Freedom Jewellery Sale. I got a gorgeous cameo necklace, (I have to admit I am addicted to anything that features a cameo. I have rings, brooches and necklaces galore, so the new addition will be at home in my jewellery box) some really cute lace bows that go in your hair (slightly concerned I may look about 5 but I love them and they have quite a vintage look) and some ankle socks.
I am loving the socks with brogues look...and this is something that I'm going to start incorporating. I think they'll look nice with skinny jeans and lace dresses.
Pictures will follow :)
And as always, having bought these I now have the spending bug once again.
I have seen so many nice boots and shoes that I want, including these:
Known as 'The Look' shoes, after the magazine, Office have these in red, gold and black. I love the fringing on them and they are on my most wanted look for Christmas Partywear. I would like to wear them with a sophisticated black dress and my fur coat...let's hope Santa reads this!

Lovely Weekend...
Apologies again for taking a while to update the blog. I am absolutely loving getting my thoughts down on 'paper' but life just seems to be getting in the way of being able to do this as much as I want to. Especially when doing an uninspiring full time job, which at the minute is very busy!
But anyway, I just wanted to tell you about the lovely weekend I had...
It had been a while since I had enjoyed a quiet weekend. I currently live up in Newcastle and have family and friends dotted around the country so very often I am away visiting them. However this weekend I completely relaxed and spent time at my flat in Newcastle with the boyfriend.
On Sunday I visited Newcastle's 'Affordable Vintage Fair' at Northumbria University's Student Union and I have to say it's the best vintage fair I've been to. There were around fifty stalls and lots of different items from delicious chunky knitwear, complete with elbow patches (I need some of these in my life) beautiful sequinned numbers, cameo brooches, leather satchels, and battered boots and coats that would add some edge to any outfit.
I was in my element, and although everything was reasonably priced I could have spent a small fortune.
I definitely recommend anyone to go to an 'Affordable Vintage Fair' if you get the chance. They tour the country and will be in cities throughout October and Novemeber :)
Check out the link: http://www.vintagefair.co.uk/
I was very restrained and bought just one thing and I absolutely love it! It's a vintage farmer's wax jacket- Barbour Style. I can't wait to wear it! The country style for winter is one of my favourite looks and I think the jacket will look great with chunky knitwear, checked shirts, brogues and lace dresses.

My New Obsession
Fashion Literature...
This is a collection that's been growing for quite a while now but luckily during my trip to New York I got the opportunity to add to my collection.
I know this could probably sound a bit silly but I just have a complete love affair with all these books. The images are beautiful inside them and the stories they tell are captivating.
I often, when I get a second to myself, sit and just look at the pictures and really get lost in them.
At the minute I have just started reading 'Dior by Dior' which is the autobiography of Christian Dior. The book is a very personal account of how Dior was founded and gives a real insight into what it took to establish one of the world's largest fashion houses. I am really enjoying it because of the way it's written, it enables the reader to really connect and understand the man behind the fashion.

Faux Fur Season
Apologies for the lack of Blogging over the last few days. It's been a hectic weekend yet again!
The weekend involved heading back to Leeds, where I went to university doing my Journalism training, to meet up with my pals. And, whenever these reunions occur they always seem to involve many drinks, much crazy dancing and a thumping head whilst driving back up to the Toon. Fun times!
But was great, although very tiring. I wore my new ASOS dress, that miraculously came out un scathed from any wine marks or anything. I was actually quite impressed!
I will put a couple of photos up in the next day or so :)
I am also feeling very pleased to have my vintage faux fur jacket back with me all ready for the grips of winter to take its hold. I had so much stuff when I moved out of my flat in Leeds that I asked my friend to take care of it and now I have it back after visiting her on Sunday. Yay! It's one of my most loved items in my wardrobe and at £30 it was a complete bargain and it keeps you really toasty whilst adding a bit of glam to any outfit.
In fact I am so looking forward to wearing it with some jeans, a checked shirt and some high-heeled brogues :)

How to wear vintage...
My good friend shared this with me and I definitely like a lot of what it's got to say:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1311385/How--grown-vintage-look.html
For some the beauty of vintage clothing is transforming their whole look and allowing them to express themselves in a bygone era and I completely understand that. For me, like what is mentioned in this article, I prefer to inject vintage pieces into outfits to give it that bit of 'je ne sais quoi'
For example, teaming a vintage handbag or clutch to a high street outfit, especially when you're going somewhere a bit special, can make you stand out from the crowd.
I have a favourite clutch that I got from a Vintage Fashion Fair in Saltaire (I'm sure some photos will be up soon) for £10 that I always get comments about as it is different. And that is, to me, the fascinating trick to incorporating vintage items into your looks, you can stand out, with pieces that you just can't find on the High Street.
Above I'm wearing a Primark dress, vintage army jacket bought from Army & Navy Supply Shop in Newcastle & vintage bag from Beacon's Closet, Brooklyn.

Chanello
As it's only day two of my attempts at Blogging I wanted to share another one of my photos I took whilst in New York. I just love the detail, so much so that I have framed it and put it up in my boudoir :)
Those people who know me will know of my love for the elegance of Chanel. It was a proud day in New York when I got to hold a quilted black Chanel purse. It was actually beautiful, although at $900 it was just too far out of my price range. Even more out of the price range were the divine black quilted totes locked away in their glass cases in Saks. So I stood back and admired these from a far.
I have held one once, and although slightly blurry eyed from a few glasses of wine, it was a momentous occasion! My friend recalled it was like I had just seen a celebrity.
And, although this could come across as a little shallow, I will put it out there that my ambition in life is to own a classic Chanel quilted tote and let's hope 'one day' this will come true.
But for now, I will have to be happy with admiring the beauty of this photo...

Inspirations
Welcome to Sleeping Treasures...
Well I have to say it feels great to be blogging after wanting to take the step into Fashion Writing for as long as I can remember. It was a recent trip to New York, and my very first one at that, that gave me the push I needed. My Inspiration.
I hope that through this Blog I can delve more into my love for fashion and in particular Vintage Fashion, hence the name Sleeping Treasures.
To me the highly popular term 'Vintage' means much more. It means a life before, something that in most cases you will never find about. But you can use your imagination to dream up elaborate and wonderful stories about where your clothes, bags, jewellery and shoes have been before they came to you.
Bliss! And you can't say that about the latest Topshop must-have item!
Whilst in New York (well Brooklyn) I was taken to Beacon's Closet and in one word it was 'amazing.' The atmosphere was electric, with Brooklyn hipsters and scenesters everywhere.
So I hope you enjoy reading my posts or should I say ramblings about the fashion I love and the vintage era x x x x x x
